Marx Disease is a contagious, incurable, non-fatal disease. It is caused by listening to a Richard Marx song and falling in love with it thus seeking out the album it's on. It then moves to the stage where the infected party seeks to get all the possible Richard Marx albums. The third stage is to get all the singles, albums, and compilations that feature songs that are not on Richard Marx albums. The fourth stage is to get every collectable there is. The fifth and final stage is traveling around the county to see Richard Marx in concert. Symptoms include itching to hear a song, quoting a song, searching the web for concerts and collectibles. However, the symptoms are curable. The known cures for the symptoms are buying that rare Richard Marx item you found, listening to a Richard Marx album, and going on a road trip to a Richard Marx concert or two (or up to 5+).

I wrote in April 1998 this after finding out about a 5th Northern summer concert that Richard Marx was performing. I live in the South where it is not convenient to travel up north for a concert (I did go to Chattanooga as it was a southern show!) Yes, I would like to see him more often in my part of the country. I also collect RM stuff and I saw a few things on the web that I just couldn't order right then and there. This is basically making fun of myself. If you think this is a REAL disease--maybe it is?

I no longer suffer from this as much as I did in the past, I'm sad to say. However, I'll keep this up for those that do get a laugh out of it.
